The Ohio State football program has done a much better job in the last couple of weeks at landing players from the transfer portal. Before the first-round matchup against the Tennessee Volunteers, they weren't making much headway. That has changed rapidly.

In the last couple of weeks, the Buckeyes have landed a couple of offensive linemen, a running back, a defensive lineman, and the top tight end in the portal. Quite frankly, they have replaced a lot of players at positions of need heading into next season. There is still work to be done, though.

We told you about the Buckeyes having interest in a Georgia linebacker who entered the portal recently. Now, it looks like Ohio State has a real shot to land Damon Wilson. Wilson is now projected to pick the Ohio State Buckeyes in the next few days.

Wilson had three sacks, two forced fumbles, and two fumble recoveries. He had 22 total tackles this past season as well. He was a four-star edge rusher recruit coming out of high school, so that's where he is most effective. With J.T. Tuimoloau and Jack Sawyer leaving next season, they need some guys who can rush the passer off the edge.

According to ON3, Wilson is projected to pick the Buckeyes in the next few days. He's athletic and quick off the edge, which is something Ohio State needs. Most likely, he'll move from linebacker to defensive end. He could be in the Jack position if Knowles wants to keep that next year as well.

If the Buckeyes do land Wilson, he would be the best defensive player that Ohio State has had from the transfer portal so far. Their work in the portal isn't done yet. Expect them to be active with players once their season ends, too.
