The Ohio State football team could lose multiple QBs to the transfer portal

The Ohio State football team has already lost one quarterback to the transfer portal. That might not be the only one they lose.

The Ohio State football team is starting to lose some players to the transfer portal. The portal officially opens today, and some players have already entered their names in. So far, the Ohio State Buckeyes have only lost players who are backups, including at quarterback.

Devin Brown announced on Sunday night that he was also entering the portal. He becomes the first quarterback from Ohio State to enter the portal. Brown was with the Buckeyes for three seasons, so he stayed around a while. Fans were surprised he even stayed for that long.

Brown might not be the only quarterback who enters the portal from the Ohio State Buckeyes this season. Next season will likely be a three-horse race between QBs who have never taken a snap. That leaves one quarterback who is currently on the roster the odd man out.

Another Ohio State football quarterback could be entering the transfer portal soon

Lincoln Kienholz is the quarterback who could be the odd man out. Kienholz has only played one meaningful game for the Buckeyes so far in his career. That was the Cotton Bowl last season when Brown went down with an injury. Kienholz looked like a deer in the headlights.

That performance in the Cotton Bowl wasn't all his fault. The offensive line was a complete disaster. Still, it seems like he doesn't have a path to start at the Ohio State football program. It would not be surprising to see him enter the portal and try to find a place where he can compete for the starting job.

If the Buckeyes do lose Kienholz to the portal, that would leave their quarterback depth in a spot they'd prefer to not be in. Having just three scholarship QBs would not be ideal. At that point, they would likely go into the portal to get someone to be a fourth-string guy.

We'll see what Kienholz decides to do over the next few days.
