The Ohio State basketball program has been working to improve its roster this offseason. After another disappointing season, they are hoping to be better next season with the group that they will put together. They still haven't made the NCAA Tournament for three straight years.
If that holds again next season, Jake Diebler might have to find another job. Buckeye fans are frustrated that they made an internal hire after firing Chris Holtmann, and then they still missed the Big Dance. Diebler is looking to change some minds by putting together a better team.
So far, the Buckeyes have added two players from the transfer portal. They have grabbed a big man and a guard, although neither of them is starting-caliber. The Ohio State Buckeyes were able to land a third transfer on Tuesday that they hope can give them a scoring boost.
The Ohio State basketball program lands Brandon Noel in the transfer portal
Brandon Noel has committed to the Buckeyes from the transfer portal. He becomes the third player that Ohio State has landed from the portal. He previously played at Wright State, so he is an in-state transfer who is very familiar with the Buckeyes and what they are about.
Noel averaged 19 points, 7.7 rebounds, and 1.7 assists per game while with Wright State. He shot 55% from the field and 35% from three. He is someone that they think can come in and help score some much-needed buckets, but he might be able to start.
The last transfer portal player the Buckeyes got from Wright State was Tanner Holden, and he didn't do much. Hopefully, Noel is someone who can come in and give them more of a boost. They need someone who can help in any way they can because the roster still needs to be improved.
