The Brady Edmunds saga may not even be in the late innings yet. That's the sentiment Bucknuts' Dave Biddle shared about the Ohio State Buckeyes' relationship with the 4-star Huntington Beach (CA) quarterback.

As Biddle acknowledges, an Edmunds flip has seemed like a foregone conclusion for a while. The UCLA Bruins looked like the painful inevitability, reeling in Troy Aikman for the pitch and offering the hometown sway of the West Coast. The Northwestern Wildcats are also in the running. Biddle shared optimism, stemming directly from interactions with Edmunds in Columbus this week.

"For a while, it seemed as if the long-standing relationship between 2027 quarterback Brady Edmunds and Ohio State was headed for a breakup. Edmonds has been verbally committed to Ohio State for over a year and a half (Dec. 2, 2024, to be exact). However, when the Buckeyes started looking at other QBs in the 2027 class, and when Edmunds started considering other programs like UCLA, it appeared as though the relationship has soured," Biddle wrote.

"However, Edmunds is currently on his official visit to Ohio State, and has been in town since Tuesday. And from talking to him, everything is going extremely well thus far."

Whoa. Edmunds signaling that he may be sticking around is major news. It'd mean he's embracing competition, patience in the QB room, and loyalty to his commitment. It'd make him an immediate babyface, in wrestling terms. Akin to Hulk Hogan ditching the NWO colors for his vintage yellow and red "Hulkamania" gear in 2002. Hogan was billed from the LA metro, Venice Beach specifically. Edmunds is actually from there, and could shed the doubts and reveal Scarlet and Gray commitment.

Hopefully, he does. Edmunds had 2,724 yards, 32 TD passes, and two INTs on 196/288 attempts during his junior season in the CIF Southern Section's Division III last fall. At six-foot-five, he has natural field vision and a big arm to match. No one wants him to flip. There was just a lot of hedging about his exit.

What Ohio State keeping Brady Edmunds would mean

Edmunds essentially dared the Buckeyes to impress him enough to stay. On his current visit, there must be some impressive levels of persuasion going on by Ohio State's coaching staff. UCLA brought out all the stops. Halting the hometown team that's closer than any Power 4 program to Hollywood is big-time recruiting. It's elite B1G recruiting.

Yes, it's the norm, but the Buckeyes are proving to be at an even higher level than anyone could've thought in the NIL era. They get big classes and then keep them, even when schools are throwing the bag.

Edmunds may have more immediate opportunities to play in Westwood, but there is only one chance to take part in history. No blue-blood looks better positioned to stay on top like Ohio State. Ryan Day isn't going anywhere, NFL head coaches now walk through the door as coordinators, and the money is flowing through Columbus.

We'll see if Edmunds' latest direction remains that way for the duration until signing day. Sounds like there's a very good chance it will, all of a sudden.
