The Ohio State football team has made the Shoe one of the most iconic stadiums in the history of college football. It's over 100 years old, so a lot of tradition has happened in that stadium. The Buckeyes have played a lot of great games in front of their fans in that building during that time.
This season added to it when the Ohio State Buckeyes took on Texas in the season opener. Ohio State won that game, and they've won every game since. The homefield advantage that they get from their fans helps them keep that home winning streak alive.
Ohio State hardly ever gets beaten at home because they have 100,000+ screaming fans behind them. Apparently, that's not good enough to be rated as the best stadium in the Big Ten by The Athletic, which rated their top 25 stadiums in the country.
Ohio Stadium not ranked as the top stadium in the Big Ten
The Shoe was listed as the fourth-best stadium in the country by The Athletic. They were the second-best stadium in the Big Ten, ranking behind Penn State. They had Happy Valley as the second-best gameday experience in the country, with LSU being the only school ahead of them. Notre Dame is ranked third.
Having Notre Dame ranked ahead of the home of the Buckeyes is straight-up disrespectful. Ohio State is the winningest program in college football history, and the Fighting Irish lost at home to Northern Illinois last year. That has never happened at the Shoe.
Ohio State beat Penn State in Beaver Stadium just last season, so it's clearly not the homefield advantage everyone else thinks it is. Both Oregon and Northwestern have beaten the Nittany Lions in Happy Valley. Ohio State hasn't lost at home since TTUN last season.
Death Valley having the top ranking is fair. The Tiger Eye is the most iconic midfield logo in college football. Any stadium other than that being ranked higher than the Shoe should be considered a slap in the face.
