The Ohio State football team has a lot of work to do with its 2027 recruiting class. They haven't had a commitment since the end of April. Quite frankly, the Spring Game wasn't as fruitful as it normally is in terms of recruiting. Not as many recruits ended up committing as they normally do.

Right now, just 11 commits are in Ohio State's 2027 recruiting class. That certainly won't be the final number when Signing Day rolls around. There is a lot of work to do this summer, and there are three recruits that the Ohio State Buckeyes are really hoping to land at this point in the cycle.

1. David Gabriel Georges

Perhaps the most important recruit left on the board, Georges is someone the Buckeyes are going after hard. They have been in contact with him almost constantly and don't seem to have any qualms about paying him significant NIL money. As a five-star running back recruit, he's well worth it.

After losing out on Kemon Spell, Georges is the highest-ranked running back left on the board for the Buckeyes. They haven't had a five-star recruit at the running back spot since TreVeyon Henderson. Georges would certainly give Ohio State a new level of offensive prowess.

2. Monshun Sales

For many years, the Ohio State football program has been able to land any wide receiver recruit they want. If Brian Hartline offered you, you would come to Ohio State. Hartline started the recruitment of Sales, and it looked like Ohio State had him wrapped up. Now, it looks like he's going to IU.

Losing Sales would be bad, but losing him to a Big Ten rival would be even worse. Ohio State still has time to make a push for the five-star receiver, but they are clearly no longer the favorite to land him. If they can somehow turn that recruitment back around, that would be massive for Cortez Hankton.

3. Wyatt Thomas

Someone who hasn't been talked about as much is Wyatt Thomas. Thomas is a four-star defensive end recruit whom Larry Johnson has had his eyes on for a while. Right now, it looks like the Buckeyes are the favorites to land him. He will be visiting Columbus at the beginning of June.

That visit could be when Thomas decides to make his final decision. Adding him to the defensive line would be really nice, especially if Ohio State ends up not being able to hold onto DJ Jacobs. Even if they do keep Jacobs, it would be nice to have two really good edge guys in the same recruiting class.

These are the three recruits that the Buckeyes should focus on the most. Getting all of these guys would be fantastic. Getting two out of the three would still be good. Bringing only one in would be a disappointment. If they somehow don't land any of them, that would be a disaster.

The end of the month is when things should really pick up on the recruiting front.
