Texas coach Steve Sarkisian talking trash puts more pressure on Ohio State game

It seems he can't stop opening his mouth, despite the fact that he has never come close to winning a national championship.

The Ohio State football program owns Texas. That much has been clear under Ryan Day. In each of the last two years, the Buckeyes have taken down the Longhorns by a combined 21 points. He has beaten the Longhorns in the College Football Playoff and at home in the Shoe.

That leaves just one more way to beat Texas: on the road in Austin. The Buckeyes will get that opportunity in Week 2 when they travel to Austin. Ohio State has a tough schedule this year, but they aren't complaining about it. A win early against Texas would go a long way.

Steve Sarkisian has a different approach to the schedule his team is playing. Instead of embracing the challenge, he has decided to complain about it. In fact, he's complained enough recently that he is under a lot of pressure to win that game at home against the Ohio State Buckeyes.

Steve Sarkisian is putting enormous pressure on his team to beat Ohio State

Sarkisian's latest complaints about the schedule happened recently, with him complaining about Texas Tech's schedule. He thinks their schedule is way too easy compared to theirs.

“There's a team in our state that plays in another conference that has a schedule that I would argue if I played with our twos and our threes, we could go undefeated, and they'll probably make the CFP this year.”

Complaining about another school's schedule does his own team no good. That's especially true when Texas hasn't been able to win a national championship under Sark. Ohio State ended the best chance that the Longhorns had to make the national championship.

In 2024, the epic victory over the Longhorns took the Buckeyes to the National Championship Game and helped Day get that national title. Ohio State ended up beating Notre Dame for that title. After Day lost to Michigan, he didn't complain. He got ready to win a national title. Sark is still whining.

A loss to Ohio State could be devastating for Steve Sarkisian

An early loss at home to the Buckeyes would put Texas behind the eight-ball when it comes to making the College Football Playoff. They lost three games last season, including one to the Buckeyes. Another early loss could put them in a hole they might not be able to dig out of.

Ohio State is well aware that they have a chance to make Sarkisian extremely uncomfortable. They also have a shot to ruin Arch Manning's dreams for the second straight year. On the flip side, a win in Austin would do wonders for Ohio State's CFP chances. That win would give them a buffer once the Big Ten portion of the schedule arrives.

Ohio State fans are certainly hoping they can make Sark whine more after a loss. Last year, Matt Patricia's defense was able to shut down anything the Longhorns tried to do offensively. The Buckeyes are hoping to do the same thing away from the friendly confines of Columbus four months from now.
