When 5-star wide receiver Jett Harrison committed to Ohio State on July 1, it was a pleasant surprise for Buckeyes fans out there. Harrison didn't want a dragged-out recruiting process, shutting things down quickly so that he can focus on his future. Said future in Columbus might arrive much sooner than a lot of us anticipated.
While nothing has been finalized, speculation continues to grow that Harrison could end up reclassifying from the 2028 class to become a member of the 2027 group. If that were to happen, sure, Harrison would miss out on an extra season of development at the high school level, but Ohio State would gladly trade that to get him to campus a year early.

5-star Ohio State commit Jett Harrison reclassifying to 2027 seems to be in the cards
As things stand, the 6-1, 175-pounder is ranked five stars, the No. 2 wide receiver in the country, and No. 4 prospect overall for the 2028 group. He gave the Buckeyes an incredibly early pledge, choosing Ohio State over Nebraska, Oregon, and some other powerhouse programs. Again, Harrison knew in his heart he wanted to be a Buckeye and didn't feel the need to drag things out.
Now, things could be made even better for him if he joins a loaded '27 haul getting ready to suit up for Ohio State. At wide receiver alone, fellow 5-star target Jamier Brown remains committed to Ohio State, and while Notre Dame was putting in serious work to flip him, it looks like those efforts are going to fall short once the Early Signing Period gets here. Brown and Harrison working together would be a dream tag team, especially with one of Ohio State's top WR targets likely heading elsewhere.
Monshun Sales is getting ready to shut down his recruitment, and Ohio State is on the outside looking in
That'd be 5-star wideout Monshun Sales. Sales is getting ready to announce his decision on July 17, with finalists Ohio State, Indiana, Texas, Alabama, and LSU still in the hunt. Despite that, the continued buzz is that this is a two-team race between the Hoosiers and Longhorns. Indiana also remains a strong favorite according to the On3 RPM.
While a recruiting shocker could arrive here, plenty of signs are pointing to Sales committing elsewhere, with Indiana looking like a potential landing spot for him. Should that news come in, it's going to Suck for Day and his coaching staff, as Sales is 2027's No. 2 wide receiver. You know what would ease that blow for '27? Getting Harrison to reclassify.
Seeing that happen would get some fans to quickly get over losing out on Sales, if that does end up happening. Assuming it does, Ohio State is still going to have a a Top 10 recruiting class in the country, while things would only get better if Harrison does make the jump. We'll have to wait and see if that happens or not, but goodness, it'd be pretty dang cool if it does.
