The Ohio State football program has tried to do a great job of identifying talent and figuring out what players they want to recruit. The Buckeyes pride themselves on that, even if they haven't been able to seal the deal when it comes to the recruiting trail recently.
Still, they feel that they have a great system for identifying talent, and other programs have taken notice. In fact, the Buckeyes are so good at that that other schools are now starting to poach staff members to help their own front office be better in all of those aspects.
On Friday, LSU went ahead and poached a member of the front office from the Ohio State Buckeyes. Former Director of Player Personnel Sam Petitto will now move to LSU. Before he was with Ohio State, he served almost a decade on Nick Saban's staff at Alabama.

The Buckeyes are one of the premier programs in the country for a reason. Adding staff members like Petitto is part of the reason that they have been able to be so successful. They have won two national championships in the last decade because of how well they identify talent.
Ohio State will have to find someone to replace Petitto. They don't have to right away, but the sooner they find someone to replace him, the better off they will be. The Buckeyes just need to make sure that they are better at closing on the recruiting trail.
Figuring out the right players to try and recruit is almost as important as actually recruiting them. This is certainly a loss for the Buckeyes, but they shouldn't have any issues filling his position. There will be qualified candidates lining up to replace Petitto in no time.
