The Ohio State football team has been dealing with a lot in the last few days. Brian Hartline accepted the head coaching job at South Florida. Because of that decision, the Buckeyes have been trying to keep recruits from jumping ship. Chris Henry Jr. was the big one they needed to keep.
Once Hartline left, Henry Jr. started to waver in his choice to pick the Ohio State Buckeyes. Yet, he decided to pick the Buckeyes after all, and his paperwork is officially in. That means that they will have signed yet another five-star recruit in a recruiting class.
Henry Jr. picked the Buckeyes because of his relationship with Ryan Day. His call with day to let him know before he announced his decision on the Pat McAfee Show showed everyone that Oregon never really had a chance to bag him.
Ryan Day's call with Chris Henry Jr. shows why he chose Ohio State
Henry Jr.'s family posted a phone call between Day and Henry Jr. It shows just how Day is able to bring recruits in and why his players play so hard for him.
Chris Henry Jr. calls Ryan Day to tell him he’s coming to Ohio State:

Day: “Just know at the end of the day, this is a place where we are going to take care of you… It’s not going to be easy, but we’ve got a great culture… Wait til you hear Buckeye Nation go wild.” pic.twitter.com/NZRD1RAbiS
Day does a good job of saying that Ohio State will be the right choice for him because it develops its receivers. He let Henry Jr. know that the Buckeyes will take care of him like family. Day stays calm, knowing he's had conversations like this hundreds of times.
Day also noted the fact that Henry Jr. will get to play with Jeremiah Smith next season, and that is certainly a selling point. You can tell that Day is very excited to bring him into the fold next season. This call gives fans a good chance to peek behind the curtain of the relationships he has with players and recruits.
Ohio State finishes with the sixth-best recruiting class in the country by adding Henry Jr. That is still one of the lowest-rated classes that Ryan Day has had since he became head coach. It would have been worse if they weren't able to keep hold of Henry Jr.
