The Ohio State football program might have multiple changes with the starting lineup against Tennessee. During Ryan Day's press conference, he mentioned that the offensive line will be changed. Luke Montgomery will be in a rotation at the very least, but he might start at left guard.
The offensive line has been the biggest problem that the Buckeyes have had to deal with over the last few weeks because of all of the injuries. However, that is far from the only issue the team is looking to fix heading into their first-round matchup with the Volunteers.
Day also mentioned during his press conference that the Buckeyes might make a change at kicker. It has been Jayden Fielding as the starter all season long. He has had a rocky season, though. He kicked three straight kickoffs out of bounds against Marshall. Most recently, he missed two field goals inside 40 yards against Michigan.
Ohio State football fans are frustrated over the poor results in the kicking game
It's late December, and the Ohio State Buckeyes still don't have a handle on who their best kicker is. Day mentioned that it will be a battle between Fielding and Austin Snyder to see who gets the duties on Saturday. Snyder is a senior who transferred in from Findlay in 2023.
It's not a good sign that the Buckeyes might have to turn to a kicker who hasn't kicked in an FBS game in his career. What's even worse is that a game of this magnitude might come down to a kick. Buckeye fans don't have great confidence in Ohio State's ability to make a kick to win the game.
We won't know for certain which kicker Day will decide on until the day of the game. Whoever it is, Ohio State football fans are hoping that the game won't come down to a kick.
