The Ohio State football program is in the middle of a few positional battles before the season starts. No positional battle is more important than the starting quarterback fight that is going on between Julian Sayin and Lincoln Kienholz. Those two have been battling since the Spring.

Sayin has been the favorite to win the job, but Day has been tight-lipped when it comes to naming a starter or even a favorite. The Buckeyes have enough weapons to throw to, so all the QB needs to do is get the ball out of his hands and let those guys do the work.

The Ohio State Buckeyes will take on Texas in the first game of the year, so they need to have a quarterback who is ready to go. Because of the importance of that first game, Day has now revealed when he is hoping to name his starting quarterback for the 2025 season.

The Ohio State football team should have a starting quarterback by the end of the week

Day revealed, while talking to the Big Ten Network, that he would like to name a starting quarterback by the end of the week. He knows that he needs to have someone picked so that it doesn't become a distraction before the big matchup between the top two teams in the preseason polls.

Sayin is likely going to end up on top, but Kienholz has made it closer over the last few days. Sayin has continued to be the more accurate passer, while Kienholz has impressed with his athleticism. Brian Hartline's offense shouldn't be predicated on a quarterback's ability to run the ball.

Either way, fans of the Buckeyes will soon know who will be leading the offense as they try to defend a national championship. Day just needs to make sure that he is making the right decision, and that it will be one that he can stick with throughout the season.

Sayin is the more talented quarterback. If his leadership is up to snuff, there's no reason he shouldn't end up winning this job and be the starter for the entire season.
