Ryan Day responds to Kirk Herbstreit's booing comment with Ohio State playing at home
By Ryan Stano
The Ohio State football team is taking on Tennessee in the first round of the College Football Playoff. It's the first time ever that the Buckeyes will host a home game in December. Not only is it a home game in December, but it is also a night game. It should be a great environment for a game.
Not everyone seems to think that Ohio State hosting a first-round game is a good thing for them. Former Buckeye quarterback Kirk Herbstreit had an interesting comment during the College Football Playoff bracket reveal show that was on ESPN. He was wondering how the crowd was going to respond.
Herbstreit said that having the Ohio State Buckeyes play this game at home may not be a good thing for them because the crowd might boo Ryan Day if the team has a three-and-out. That would suck the momentum away from the team. Day responded to that while speaking to the media.
Ryan Day says he's glad the Ohio State football team is playing at home
Day was asked about that comment during his press conference on Sunday. Day had a solid response to the question. In fact, he laughed while someone was telling him what Herbstreit said. His response was pretty succint.
"We're excited to play in Ohio Stadium. That happens on a three-and-out anyway, so we're good. We're used to it."
- Ryan Day
As you can see, Day is fired up about playing this game at home. He mentioned during his presser multiple times about the fact that this is a historic game. The fans are going to be a huge part of this game. If they are fired up, Ohio State has a massive advantage.
Herbstreit clearly thinks that Day is in trouble with the fans, which is true. But to say that Ohio State would rather play on the road is insane. This team needs that home-field advantage to really help them win this game against the Volunteers.
