The Ohio State football team has a chance to exercise all of its demons from the last four years on Saturday. Taking down TTUN would fully close the loop on Ryan Day's failure to beat the program's biggest rivals. Winning a national championship and then taking down TTUN in the same calendar year would be great.
Of course, the Buckeyes still believe they can win the national title this season, too. That would have them winning back-to-back championships, putting the program in rarified air. In order for this season to be truly special, Day has to beat TTUN on Saturday afternoon in Ann Arbor.
Winning The Game would give the Ohio State Buckeyes a chance to go through the season 16-0. That's something that has never been done in the history of the sport. If Day beats TTUN and completes that season, he would have a claim to be the greatest head coach in program history.
Ryan Day has a chance to cement his Ohio State football coaching legacy vs TTUN
Beating Michigan and adding another national championship would give Day something that no other Ohio State head coach has ever accomplished. Day getting that on his resume would give him a spot on the Mount Rushmore of Ohio State football coaches.
Woody Hayes still has a claim as the best coach ever with his five national titles. That's pretty hard to beat. Hayes also helped build the modern culture of hating TTUN, something that can not go unappreciated. Day still has a chance to get to that point, as he is relatively young.
Day is not concerned about that right now. His full focus, and the team's full focus, is on beating TTUN on Saturday afternoon in some bad weather. This is where the offense starts to fully open up and the load management stops. Day wants to bury the Wolverines.
