Ross Bjork isn't ruling out doing the worst possible thing for Ohio State football

This would be the worst thing he's done since becoming athletic director.

Ever since he got the job as the athletic director, Ross Bjork has been polarizing. He oversaw NIL efforts that helped the Ohio State football team win a national championship in 2024. That is still his biggest accomplishment to date, as he did that during his first year leading the athletics.

Of course, fans have had problems with some things he's done, as well. He ended the tradition of Hang on Sloopy being played at the end of the third quarter. He also moved students away from portions of the South stands to make way for luxury seating.

It's hard to determine Bjork's legacy at this point. He's done too many good and bad things to figure that out. However, he is considering an idea that would make him hated far and wide among Buckeye fans and would ensure him as the worst athletic director Ohio State has ever had.

Ross Bjork won't rule out selling naming rights to Ohio Stadium

While speaking to the media, Bjork was asked about the possibility of selling the rights to Ohio Stadium. Bjork made it very clear that he is not ruling it out.

"You know, I got in a little bit of trouble doing an interview when I first got here, when I said, 'Hey, everything is sort of on the table.' That's probably still the case...the stadium naming rights, look. It's owned by the state of Ohio. So I think there's a very careful analysis that would have to take place. If you pursue the partner, what does that look like?"

If Bjork actually does decide to change the name of the stadium to a sponsor's name in order to make a quick buck, that would have fans of the Ohio State Buckeyes turn against him forever. That's not something anyone is asking for, and it would just be another tradition stripped away.

In that answer, Bjork did not say "no", which is a major concern. That tells me that he has certainly thought about it, and it's something that he would actually consider doing. The Buckeyes could be playing at Nationwide Stadium for all we know if he lets that happen.

Ross Bjork would be run out of town if he did this to the Ohio State football program

It's very clear that Bjork is looking for ways to make more money. He mentioned in the interview that Ohio State is working towards having a $500 million budget. He also announced a renovation of the Woody Hayes Athletic Complex, which will cost $125 million. That is actually a good thing.

Still, naming the Shoe some God-awful sponsor is the last straw. Fans would revolt, and they would run Bjork out of town. His longest tenure as an AD was seven years. He spent even less time at Texas A&M. His time in Columbus would be even shorter if that were something he signed off on.

There are plenty of other ways to get money for the Buckeyes. That should not be one of them.
