Ross Bjork calls out the SEC for being too afraid to play Ohio State

Ohio State has never had an issue scheduling tough teams. This year, they will play Texas for the second straight season. In the next four seasons, they will be playing Alabama and Georgia. That will make it three different SEC schools over the course of these recent regular seasons.

Meanwhile, most SEC schools are afraid to schedule big non-conference games. They claim that the schedule in the SEC is too difficult to play other good schools. Ohio State AD Ross Bjork is now calling out the SEC, claiming they are too afraid to play the Buckeyes.

Ross Bjork says SEC teams don't want to play Ohio State after 2030

In an interview with 97.1 The Fan, Bjork claims that teams don't want to schedule the Buckeyes once their series with Georgia is finished.

"The SEC actually came out of their spring meetings, and they were all grousing about what they thought was a strength of schedule metric that wasn't giving them enough credit. Now, we'll see what happens when they play nine games this year, and what that looks like. There's not a lot of willingness to play Ohio State past 2030, when we have Georgia. People just say, 'Well, schedule these games!' Well, the other team has to actually sign a contract, too. It's not as easy as what people think it might be."

It's laughable that the SEC thought the strength of schedule metric didn't give them enough credit. ESPN's SOS metric was ripe with bias towards the SEC, as Ohio State was the only non-SEC team in the top 10. How exactly is that not giving the SEC enough credit?

It's pretty clear that the SEC is afraid to take a butt-whooping from the Buckeyes. That's exactly what they have been giving the SEC in the last few years. Ohio State has won the last three matchups against the SEC, including two against Texas in the last two seasons.

Ohio State is not afraid to play anyone

Bjork seems to make it clear that the Ohio State Buckeyes are not afraid to schedule anyone. They are willing to schedule big games for the good of the game and for the fans. Ryan Day has also proven that his teams are rising to the occasion to beat these bigger programs, too.

Even though the Buckeyes have all of the incentives in the world to create a bad schedule, that's not how they want to operate. They would rather test themselves against the best teams in the country. Apparently, the SEC wants to run from competition instead of running towards it.

Ohio State is ranked as the top team in the country in the Coaches Poll, so other coaches clearly believe they are a team that can win it all. Maybe that's what makes the rest of the SEC so scared to play them, despite their claims that they are the best conference.

The Buckeyes will just have to keep beating the SEC teams they do have scheduled so far.
