Last season, the Ohio State Buckeyes introduced some new traditions and took some away. The decision was met with mixed reactions, at best, from fans, as Ross Bjork was trying to do something new. One of the decisions he made was to stop playing Hang On Sloopy at the start of the fourth quarter.
One of the traditions that Bjork tried to introduce was the playing of a song from the band Caamp, which is from Upper Arlington. They have a song named "Ohio", which Bjork wanted to play in the Shoe to help get fans fired up. Recently, he acknowledged that it hasn't worked out as he had hoped.

While speaking on 97.1 The Fan, Bjork admitted that the song hasn't hit in the way he was hoping it would. Bjork said that they will still play the song, but not in the way that they were before.
Listening to 97.1 and Ross Bjork admitted he missed on the “Ohio” song by Caamp. They are still going to play it, but not try and hype it up like they tried to last year.

There is nothing wrong with the band itself, but they sing folk music. A folk-style song isn't exactly the vibe to try to pump up the crowd in a football game. A rock, metal, or rap song might work better for that, so perhaps Bjork decides to play one of those types of songs instead.
Bjork's mea culpa is a little surprising, as he has been unwilling to deviate from things he's done in the past. He didn't offer the same contrition for moving the band in order to make room for luxury seating. That was something that fans were not a big fan of, either.
Ohio State already has some of the best traditions in all of college football. It was odd that Bjork decided to start messing with some of the traditions the Buckeyes have already established. Perhaps fans will be happy with Bjork's decision not to force the Caamp song down their throats.
Ohio State needs to still fix one more tradition
If Bjork were smart, he would walk back what they are doing with Hang On Sloopy. Instead of playing it whenever they want, they should go back to playing it at the start of the fourth quarter. That is a tradition that has been going on for decades, and the Buckeye fans love it.
Of course, that might be tough to do for Bjork. He has tried a lot of things in the last year or so, and he doesn't want to admit that he was too wrong about the things he wanted to change. One thing he can't change is how good the Buckeyes will be on the field this season.
Ohio State is going to dominate on the field, whether there are certain things going on in the Shoe or not. They will probably be the favorites in every game that they play at home this season. Their toughest games this season are going to be on the road at Texas and Indiana. However, Ohio State has enough talent to win both games.
