The story from Week 1 in the NFL was how good former Ohio State football players, specifically the receivers, were. They ran through the NFL and put up massive numbers, including rookie receiver Emeka Egbuka. Egbuka was the 19th overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft and proved he probably should've been taken higher.

Egbuka was able to show that he can be a number-one receiver already. He had four catches for 67 yards and two touchdowns, including the game-winning touchdown with just 59 seconds remaining. It was an incredible way for him to finish his first game in the NFL.

While Egbuka's performance was already great, it has gotten even better now that his teammate Mike Evans let everyone know that Egbuka has the most confidence of any rookie receiver in the league. According to him, Egbuka predicted that he was going to have a game-winning touchdown.

Following the game against the Falcons, fellow Bucs receiver Mike Evans was asked about Egbuka and that last play. He let everyone know that Egbuka predicted that play.

"Right before that last touchdown, he like called it. He wanted a post route. He said, 'I'm about to game one. ' We were in the huddle and (Egbuka) said we need to run this certain play and I'm going to game (the cornerback). And I was just like, 'Maybe we do need to it', and then literally he runs the post and touchdown, next play."

Egbuka is one of the most confident players in his teammates and himself that you will ever find. Egbuka called Jeremiah Smith's game-sealing catch against Notre Dame in the national championship last season. He knows a lot about football and what it takes to win.

For Egbuka to do this in the first game of his career is pretty wild. He is a very good player, and this is just the start of something great. It's clear that Baker Mayfield already has a ton of confidence in him, and this play will only make him feel more confident in his abilities.

As long as Egbuka is able to stay healthy, he is going to be one of the best weapons that the Buccaneers have. He is going to be a candidate to win the Offensive Rookie of the Year in the NFL this year, too.
