The Ohio State football program finds itself in a similar position to last season when it comes to the Transfer Portal. If they beat Miami in the Cotton Bowl, they will continue to prep for games while the portal opens. That makes it tough for them to bring in guys from the portal.
While the Buckeyes are likely going to lose at least two players, they still have to add players to next year's squad if they want to maximize their potential. These three players could be guys that the Ohio State Buckeyes bring in very soon after the portal opens.
1. Chaz Coleman
Edge rusher Chaz Coleman seems to be the most likely candidate for the Buckeyes to bring in. He was heavily recruited by the Buckeyes and was a five-star recruit who ultimately chose to play for Penn State. With James Franklin gone, Coleman said he was going to enter the portal.
Coleman is a Warren, Ohio native who heavily considered Ohio State the first time around. Bringing him in would help replenish a defensive line that will be losing most of its starters for the second year in a row. Adding Coleman would be a stellar pull from the portal.
2. Amaris Williams
If adding Coleman doesn't happen for whatever reason, Amaris Williams would be a nice consolation prize. Bringing him in addition to Coleman would be even better. Williams is also an edge player. He has decided to enter the portal after a couple of seasons with Auburn.
Williams was recruited by the Buckeyes coming out of high school, and Williams even took an official visit to Columbus. Adding him to the defensive line would certainly help the depth up front. He recorded 2.5 sacks in two seasons with the Tigers.
3. Khmori House
Since there are very few kickers who have entered the portal, the Buckeyes could use some help at the linebacker position. Sonny Styles and Arvell Reese are both headed to the NFL to become first-round picks. Bringing in someone like House would help cushion the blow of losing both players.
House has bounced around from program to program in his collegiate career, but adding a veteran linebacker would really help Ohio State. House wouldn't play a lot, but having someone who has played at multiple P4 schools would be helpful if the young guys in front of him get hurt or aren't ready.
