Columbus state senator Bill DeMora disapproves of Ohio State Buckeyes offensive coordinator Brian Hartline's play-calling from the team's 13-10 Big Ten Championship Game loss to the Indiana Hoosiers last Saturday.

Mora shared a video explaining his feelings that Hartline should leave OSU and start his new career as the USF Bulls' head coach, downplaying Indiana defensive coordinator Bryant Haines and the Hoosiers' defense's ability to come up with key stops in the B1G title game.

Overall, it was a pretty grounded take. On Hartline, at least.

"If his mind's already going to be gone, then he shouldn't be here," DeMora said in the video. "He's a great recruiter, he's a great coach, but now that he took another job, go do the other job and don't worry about us."

Kicker Jayden Fielding catching a stray from the 56-year-old Democratic Buckeye State Senator is where the rant crossed the line into unnecessary.

"The fact that we have over 50,000 students on campus and can't find a (expletive) kicker on campus is a problem, okay?" DeMora said.

Lighting a fire under the lead play-caller is one thing. Hartline has played in the NFL. Fielding is a kid in his early 20s whose performance has a major mental component, though. Attacking him serves no positive purpose.

Ryan Day cannot let Brian Hartline cause any issues in CFP

The best CFP run of all time, followed by a win in "The Game" to cap off a regular season, almost cemented Ryan Day's standing in the fanbase. These standards are high, though, and allowing Hartline to come out with a lethargic game plan in the B1G title game is the extent to which Day will receive grace.

There cannot be a slip-up in the Cotton Bowl Classic. Day needs to have that offensive attack humming, utilizing the literal Heisman finalist quarterback, Julian Sayin, the game's best player, receiver Jeremiah Smith, and a potential top-five 2026 NFL draft pick, receiver Carnell Tate.

If Day does it with Hartline, sure. Suppose he does it without Hartline, even better. It needs to be done one way or another, though.

Day not making the right call on his play-caller will put him back in the sights of Buckeye fans who still aren't sold on the 46-year-old.
