Ohio State is about to officially start its run to hopefully repeat as National Champions after a magical run in 2024. The Buckeyes have some tough teams ahead of them, and in the College Football Playoff, anything is possible.
While Ohio State is primed to make another great run and repeat as champions, it is worth knowing the potential opponents ahead. So, with the teams left in the CFP, here is a ranking of each team based on the threat they pose to the Bucekeys hanging another championship banner.
7. Miami Hurricanes
The Miami Hurricanes are the first team standing in the way of the Buckeyes as they will play Ohio State in the Goodyear Cotton Bowl on New Year's Eve. The Buckeyes should be able to get under the skin of Miami quarterback Carson Beck. Miami's defense is solid, but they shouldn't be able to keep up with Jeremiah Smith and company.
6. Oregon Ducks
Ohio State has been able to handle Oregon in the past, which includes a dominating win over the Ducks in the CFP last season. The Ducks are a team that seems a little like the underdog, but Ryan Day seems to know how to beat Dan Lanning when it matters most.
5. Ole Miss Rebels
Ole Miss showed the world they didn't need Lane Kiffin, but they did it against Tulane. Will the Rebels have the firepower to take down a team like Ohio State? The guess is probably not.
4. Alabama Crimson Tide
Alabama certainly proved something against Oklahoma, and Ty Simpson showed that he is a better quarterback than some would have thought. While this team is looking more like a threat, it is not as much of a threat as the next three.
3. Texas Tech Red Raiders
The Texas Tech defense is certainly on the level of Ohio State and Indiana's, and is one that is scary to any opposing offense. The Red Raiders are also no slouch on offense, and this is a team that could absolutely be a big threat to Ohio State's repeat, even if others don't think so.
2. Georgia Bulldogs
The Georgia Bulldogs are always a team that is a threat to any sort of championship run. Georgia's offense has really come into form, and the defense is starting to look like the Bulldogs' defense of old. The Bulldogs have taken down Ohio State before, and this defense could certainly get after Julian Sayin.
1. Indiana Hoosiers
The Hoosiers are the only team to take down Ohio State this season, and while it is hard to beat a team twice, the Hoosiers found the formula to take down the Buckeyes. Curt Cignetti has his team in the right mindset, and they will come in with confidence, having already taken down Ohio State.
