Will Brady Edmunds commit to the Ohio State football team after his visit?
By Jon Rhoades
As the Ohio State football team prepares to host Iowa this weekend, many eyes in the recruiting world are focused on Brady Edmunds, one of the top quarterbacks in the 2027 class. The 6’5”, 205-pound recruit from Huntington Beach, California, is already one of the most sought-after prospects in his class, ranked as the No. 2 quarterback by both On3 and 247Sports. With over 20 offers from top programs, including Texas, Michigan, and Penn State, Edmunds has narrowed his list to four schools, with Ohio State appearing to have the edge.
A key factor in Edmunds' recruitment is his deep connection to Ohio State, which has been a family favorite for generations. Brady told Kaleb Longhurst of the Silver Bulletin, “My grandpa was born in Ohio, so my family has been Ohio State fans forever. This one is definitely different from the rest,” His grandfather briefly attended Ohio State, passing down his fandom through the family. That strong bond makes Ohio State a unique contender in his recruitment.
Bill Kuerlic of Bucknuts reported that Edmunds will be attending Ohio State’s game against Iowa this weekend, a crucial visit that could lead to his commitment. Many analysts, including On3' Chad Simmons and Steve Wiltfong, have projected Edmunds to choose Ohio State, with some suggesting that a decision could come soon. Edmunds himself hinted at the possibility, telling Kuerlic, “I think it’s definitely going to happen sooner rather than later,” suggesting a commitment before the year’s end.
Ohio State’s quarterback room, led by Offensive Coordinator Chip Kelly, has also impressed Edmunds. In an interview with Chad Simmons of On3, he spoke highly of the program: “Ohio State has been one of my dream schools since Day one.
They have a great group of coaches in the quarterback room, so it only makes sense as to why they have such a stacked room right now. They’re a national contender every year.” He also has noted feeling close with Program Assistant Riley Larkin which further strengthens Ohio State’s position.
While Ohio State appears to be in the driver’s seat, Edmunds still plans to visit Texas for their game against Georgia on October 12. The allure of Texas and the work of head coach Steve Sarkisian in developing quarterbacks are also factors. However, the chance to commit to his dream school may be too strong to resist. As the weekend approaches, many believe Ohio State could seal the deal during his visit.
Whether Edmunds commits this weekend or waits until after his Texas visit, one thing is clear—Ohio State is in a strong position to land one of the most talented quarterbacks in the 2027 class.
