Who will be the second Ohio State football player taken in the NFL Draft?

The NFL Draft starts this Thursday night. We know which Ohio State football player is going to be taken this weekend, but who will be the second?

The 2024 NFL Draft starts on Thursday night. We know that Marvin Harrison Jr. will be the first Ohio State football player off the board. What we don't know is which team will take him. We'll have more on that later in the week on which teams could end up drafting him.

Another interesting question is figuring out which Buckeye will be the second player selected. There is no consensus on who that second player will be. This is the first time in quite a while that the Buckeyes won't have two players taken in the first round. Part of that is because of how many guys returned this year.

Two players are in the running to be the second Ohio State football player off the board. One of those players is tight end Cade Stover. Stover showed his ability as a pass-catcher in each of the last two seasons, catching ten touchdowns combined in those two years.

Stover is quick as far as tight ends go but doesn't have the blocking skills that teams are looking for. He did improve on those in 2023 after having a horrible season blocking-wise in 2022. That has helped drive his draft stock. He could go as high as the late second round.

Mike Hall is the other Buckeye who could be second off the board. The defensive tackle was always around the ball in important moments even if his stats didn't jump off the page. He did have 4.5 sacks in 2022. He had more pressures in 2023 than he did sacks.

The reason why Hall could go as high as the second round is because of his athleticism. Teams draft for traits as much as they do for production. He has all of the athletic skills that teams look for up front. Personally, I think he's got a better shot to be the second Buckeye taken in the Draft than Stover.

We'll find out this weekend where each of the Buckeyes end up to start their pro football careers. It will be the best weekend of these guys' lives.
