2. The Ohio State football team's defense

The Ohio State football team allowed just six points against Akron, but they did allow the Zips to take a brief lead early in the game. Ohio State was determined to not let that happen again vs. Western Michigan. They ended up playing a lot better this week, which is saying something.

Not only did the Buckeyes shut out Western Michigan, but they kept them under 100 total yards. The defense was simply dominant. There's no other word for it. The only thing they didn't do was create a turnover, but that was about the only thing they could be faulted for.

Ohio State was supposed to have one of the best defenses in the country. On paper, they have an incredible roster full of talented guys. It was just a matter of putting it all together on the field. Through two weeks, it seems like they have done just that.

We won't know just how great the defense is until the Buckeyes play a new-look Iowa team on October 5th. It's weird that the Hawkeyes all of a sudden have a competent offense. I expect the Buckeyes to be up to that challenge. October 12th against Oregon will also be a big test for this defense.

Now the Buckeyes get a bye week to relax and keep everyone healthy. The defense should be just as dominant against Marshall in Week 4. That game should be another big win and I fully expect the Buckeyes to force at least one turnover in that game too.

Now, we turn to our one loser for the game.
