Both former Ohio State football players were impactful in the Super Bowl, but they both left Las Vegas without a ring.

There were two former Ohio State football players represented in this year's Super Bowl and they both played on the defensive line. Nick Bosa, the 2022 Defensive Player of the Year and Chase Young were ready to wreak havoc on Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs.

Young made his impact felt early, getting a sack of Mahomes in the first quarter. He finished the game with two tackles. Bosa had six tackles and two tackles for loss. Both former Buckeyes made Mahomes uncomfortable in the pocket for most of the game.

Unfortunately for them, it wasn't enough to win the game. The Chiefs beat the 49ers in overtime 25-22 with Kansas City scoring a game-winning touchdown after driving the ball 75 yards. It was the worst possible way the game could have ended for the two ex-Ohio State football players.

Now that the season is over, things change for Young. He is a free agent and will be looking for a contract somewhere. I would think that the 49ers would be the leaders in the clubhouse to sign him considering they traded for him in the middle of the season, but we'll see what happens.

Bosa will stay with the 49ers as he is in the middle of a massive deal. Personally, I think it would be best for Young if he stayed in San Francisco. That way, he and Bosa can take some attention away from the other person and get more sacks. Bosa gets double-teamed a lot, as Young did in Washington. Having both on the same team makes that a lot harder.

It's disappointing that a Buckeye won't get a Super Bowl ring this year. You can blame that on a former Michigan player. Jake Moody, former Michigan kicker, had an extra point blocked that would have given the 49ers the win in regulation.
