3. Gee Scott Jr.

Tight end is a position that doesn't have a lot of clarity right now. Gee Scott Jr. is the projected starter and he has been in the program for a while. Saturday was an opportunity for him to step up and show the fans and coaches that he's grabbed the position by the horns.

Instead, Scott hardly played. It looked like he got injured on a play in the first quarter and was spotted on the exercise bike after that. I'm not sure what kind of injury it was, but I'm sure the Ohio State football team just wanted to be cautious and hold him out regardless.

In any case, Scott had an opportunity to show that he should be the starter at tight end. Instead, he ended his day on the sidelines. It's not his fault, but it's still a disappointing result for him. He will be healthy for the Fall and will have an opportunity to win the starting job then.

I was excited to see Scott and what he was able to do today. I'm disappointed that he wasn't able to show much. Still, he has the most experience of anyone else at that spot so he's still the favorite to take that starting spot. Ohio State doesn't roll out many two tight end sets.

It was a great day of football. All of these guys have a chance to improve and get even better. Still, it was a good first day of football for the 2024 season.
