Three winners and three losers from the Ohio State football Spring Game
By Ryan Stano
3. Seth McLaughlin
One of the things I was looking for on Saturday was who would be the starters on the offensive line. The whole right side of the line is still in flux and there have been no declarations as to who will start in the Fall yet. We did see Seth McLaughlin start at center and Carson Hinzman start at right guard.
McLaughlin is battling Hinzman for the starting center job. He looked pretty solid out there with the rest of the starters. One of the biggest issues he had while he was at Alabama was some snapping issues. That was prominent in the Rose Bowl against TTUN.
There were no issues with snapping the ball today with the Ohio State football team. McLaughlin had solid quarterback/center exchanges and was able to block well in the run game. His pass blocking was fairly solid as well. Based on what I've seen, he should start on the offensive line.
Hinzman is a natural guard so moving him over makes sense. If McLaughlin's snapping issues are a thing of the past, then leave him at center. Blocking has never been a question with him. He's as steady as it gets when it comes to keeping his quarterback clean.
The right side of the offensive line still has some issues. They didn't block well in the passing game early on in this Spring Game. They still have the Summer to figure that out. Now, we move on to some losers from the Spring Game. The first one is one of the quarterbacks.
