2. Jermaine Mathews Jr.

Another player who played well as a cornerback was Jermaine Mathews Jr. He was a freshman a year ago and got thrust into some starting situations when the Buckeyes had some injury issues. He played well in those games and showed that he has the potential to be a stud.

During the Spring Game, he was all over the field making plays. He made several tackles on run plays and on pass plays when the ball didn't even go to his guy. Wherever the ball was, he was there too. He's just a guy that seems to make plays around the ball.

Mathews won't start this season because Burke, Igbinosun, and Jordan Hancock are ahead of him on the depth chart. That doesn't mean that he won't see the field though. He's too talented of a player to be on the bench. If there are any injury problems again, he'll be ready to step up.

Even if he doesn't play a lot this year, Mathews will be ready to start next season once Burke leaves. He's going to be the next great Ohio State corner. Burke has already proven he's a great corner. Mathews is going to follow in his footsteps once he's gone.

The Spring Game is important for guys who might not get starter's reps. Mathews made the most out of his reps while he was out there and showed the fans what the coaches have seen all Spring. He's only going to get better too.

Our final winner is someone who is battling for a starting position on the offensive line.
