Three bold predictions for Ohio State football vs. Akron
By Ryan Stano
3. The Ohio State football team will hold the Zips scoreless
One thing that isn't debatable is how good the Buckeyes' defense is. The Buckeyes are loaded on that side of the ball and got better with the addition of Downs. Akron's offense has never seen a team with as many good players on defense as they will on Saturday.
I doubt that the Buckeyes are listening to all of the hype surrounding the defense. The secondary is going to make it extremely hard for Akron to throw the ball and score touchdowns once they get down. The defensive line is going to be able to tee off on the quarterback too.
Because of all of the talent, I don't think Akron is going to be able to score any points. In fact, I think the Buckeyes are going to make it a point to make sure that they get the shutout in front of Archie Griffin. The legend is getting honored at halftime, so they want to make it even more memorable.
Even when Ohio State's backups get in, I still don't think Akron is going to be able to get points on the board. Their backups are more talented than Akron's starters. It's nothing against Akron. They're just going up against one of the most talented teams in the country.
These are the three bold predictions for this week. We'll see if Ohio State is able to achieve these things. Their number one goal is to get the win, no matter the cost. Anything on top of that is gravy.
