The other great corner for the Ohio State football team is ready to be known
By Ryan Stano
Everyone knows about how good the Ohio State football team's secondary is going to be this season. They got even better when Caleb Downs decided to transfer in from Alabama. Everyone around the country also already knows of one of the shutdown corners the Buckeyes have.
Denzel Burke became a household name in 2021 as a freshman when he became a guy that teams started throwing away from. He became a shutdown corner very early in his career. Burke got back to playing that well last season as a junior and should be even better as a senior.
The other outside corner for the Buckeyes is pretty good too and he's ready to become a household name too. Davison Igbinosun transferred into the Ohio State football program last season after being a Freshman All-American at Ole Miss and played well for the Buckeyes.
Igbinosun had 59 tackles and five pass breakups as a starter for the Buckeyes a year ago. He wasn't able to get any interceptions though, and that's something he's looking forward to this season. He wants to be as recognized nationally as Burke currently is.
Igbinosun was one of the stars of the Spring Game. It looks like he's spent the offseason really improving his technique. He should be ready to become a shutdown corner in a similar vein to Burke. I expect him to have a really solid junior year.
Depending on how well he can play, Igbinosun has a shot to be a first-round pick. He's the type of corners that NFL GMs love. He's physical, has a long wingspan, and he's tough. Not only can he cover well, he's not afraid to come up and help in the running game either.
Igbinosun is working hard to be the best he can be. The whole Ohio State secondary is going to be scary to play against.
