The Ohio State football team has made changes to its 2025 schedule
By Ryan Stano
The Ohio State football program usually has a pretty good schedule year after year. They like to challenge themselves in the non-conference part of the schedule. That won't happen in 2024 but will resume next year when the Buckeyes open up the year against Texas.
Around that marquee non-conference game, Ohio State had a pretty easy non-conference schedule. They were scheduled to take on Ohio and and UConn as the other two opponents. Neither one of those programs is any good and they should be easy wins for them.
There have been some changes made to that schedule. The Ohio State football team will no longer be taking on the Huskies. Instead, they have replaced that game with a matchup against Grambling State. That will be taking place on September 6th and is another game they should win.
This slightly hurts the strength of schedule for the Buckeyes now that they have an FCS opponent on the schedule. It's going to be an easy win for Ohio State. It's kind of strange to see a change in the schedule so close to the start of the year, even if it is still a year out.
Ohio State likely won't adjust the ticket prices even for an FCS team. They will still be very expensive despite that. It's also a bit strange that this game against Grambling State won't be the opener. They still play the Longhorns before taking them on. That's a tough skill change to deal with.
Ohio State's 2025 schedule as a whole is still very strong. Besides Texas, the Buckeyes also take on Washington, UCLA, Wisconsin, Penn State, and Michigan. That Big Ten schedule is absolutely brutal. Perhaps that's why they wanted to take on an FCS team, even though UConn isn't any better than an FCS team.
