The Ohio State football team is taking on the Akron Zips to start the 2024 season. It's a game that the Buckeyes fully expect to win and propel them to some bigger wins later in the year. They think they are good enough to win all of their games and win a national championship.

First, the Buckeyes hve to take on Akron. Akron knows that everyone is counting them out. No one is giving them a chance. Nor should they when you look at both rosters. There's a reason that the Ohio State Buckeyes are the second-ranked team in the country.

Even though this is just a game against Akron, Ohio State still gets a standalone game on a network TV channel. They will be playing this game on CBS at 3:30 and it will be the first game broadcast on CBS this season. That means they get the premier CBS announcers too.

The announcers for the Ohio State football team vs. Akron

If you are tuning in to watch the Buckeyes on CBS, you will be listening to Brad Nessler and Gary Danielson. Nessler is great and has been for years. He's one of the better play-by-play guys in the business. The issue is that he still has Danielson as his partner.

Danielson likes to be on a first-name basis with the coaches for some reason. It's like he thinks he's friends with them, specifically the SEC coaches. Now that the SEC won't be on CBS anymore, perhaps he changes that. Maybe he gets a little better.

Regardless, expect to hear these two call more than one Ohio State football game a year. Now that CBS is exclusively broadcasting the Big Ten more than a few Buckeye games will be on that network. There will probably be at least one more this year too.

Regardless of who the announcers are, the Buckeyes are looking to start the season out with a win.
