One player is making a late push at right guard for the Ohio State football team

The Ohio State football team has yet to figure out who is going to start at right guard. One player is making a late push for that starting spot.

The Ohio State football team is still trying to figure out who will start on the offensive line. The Buckeyes are going to be a better offense. In order to be an elite offense, they need better offensive line play than they had a year ago. They are replacing a starter up front as well.

Right guard is the main battle left for this team. Seth McLaughlin seems to have taken ahold of the starting center spot. That means that Carson Hinzman could slide over to guard, which is his natural spot. He has some heavy competition and has to hold off Tegra Tshabola in order to remain a starter.

Tshabola has made a strong push so far in Fall camp to possibly steal that spot. There were points where he was neck-and-neck with Hinzman until the Spring Game. That's when Hinzman was able to get first-team reps and be the starter. Can he make that push?

Can Tegra Tshabola steal the right guard spot for the Ohio State football team?

Hinzman is still the favorite to win the job. Guard is his natural position. He was thrust into the center position as a freshman out of necessity. It was certainly a rocky year, but it wasn't horrible by any means. He was one of the top-rated guard recruits in the country for a reason.

Tshabola is a solid player. He is a former four-star recruit, although he was brought in as a tackle. Guard isn't his natural position, which makes things a big tougher for him. Still, he's as versatile as it comes. He can play multiple positions up front, which is why he's making such a hard push on Hinzman.

I don't think the Ohio State Buckeyes would be significantly worse with Tshabola as the starter, but I don't think he's the better player. Hinzman is still the guy who has the most talent. I'd be surprised if he didn't ultimately come out of this positional battle as the starter when the season starts.
