One Ohio State football injury that still haunts fans to this day

Had this player not gotten hurt, the Ohio State football team would have likely played for a national title.

The best Ohio State football team I have ever seen was put together in 2019. That team had a nasty defense and an offense that was super explosive. They could score at any time and in a variety of ways too. Chase Young also wrecked opposing offenses to the point that they could barely function.

Young wore number two for the Buckeyes when he played. The other #2 is someone who haunts Ohio State football fans to this day. J.K. Dobbins was an animal that season. He was amazing, rushing for over 2000 yards and scoring 21 times on the ground that season.

Dobbins doesn't haunt Buckeye fans because he was bad. He haunts them because of one injury at the end of that season. Ohio State took on Clemson in the Fiesta Bowl and they were rolling them early. In fact, the Buckeyes scored the first 16 points in the game.

While Dobbins had one long touchdown run in this game, he should have had another. He got caught from behind on another long run. The only reason he got caught is that he had sprained his ankle earlier in the game and wasn't able to gallop at full strength.

Had Dobbins not gotten hurt, he would have continued to carve Clemson up. He got caught after running 64 yards and was tackled at the eight-yard line. Then the maddening call that screwed Ohio State from making the national championship would never have mattered. The Buckeyes would have scored another touchdown early and instead of it being a 13-0 lead, it would have been 17-0. That's before they scored another field goal to give them the first 16 points.

I still believe that the Buckeyes could have beaten LSU had they gotten the chance that they should have to play them. Had Dobbins not hurt his ankle, the refs wouldn't have been able to take that shot away. It's a moment that haunts Ohio State football fans even today.
