Ohio State women's team finishes the season with another disappointing loss
By Ryan Stano
The Ohio State women's basketball team came into Sunday afternoon looking for a spot in the Sweet 16. The Buckeyes hosted seventh-seeded Duke at the Schott. It was Celeste Taylor's first game against her former team since transferring over to Ohio State.
After leading in the first half by as many as 14, the Buckeyes slowly choked away their lead. By the end of the game, it was a disappointing loss. The Buckeyes finish their season by losing to the Blue Devils 75-63. They finish their season losing three of their final four games.
Ohio State was terrible from the three-point line. They were 1-11 from deep and really didn't get any good looks at any point. The free throw line was another issue for Ohio State. They were just 18-27 from the charity stripe. Those two things cost the Buckeyes the game.
Kevin McGuff wasn't able to get his team to play their best basketball at the end of the season. In fact, it seems like he got them to play their worst. It was a very disappointing way for the season to end after such a strong start and so much talent on the team.
Ohio State was the two-seed in this region. They are no longer in the tournament and their prospects next year don't look as promising. Jacy Sheldon is gone. So is Taylor, Other key Buckeyes are gone too. They won't be nearly as good of a team next season.
The Ohio State women's basketball program had a chance to go to the Final Four and win a national title. Instead, they stay at home and have nothing to show for all of the hard work they put in during the year. It's hard to imagine the season ending in a worse way than it did on Sunday.
