Ohio State women's basketball in the driver's seat in the Big Ten after win

The Ohio State women's basketball team is ranked second in the country. All they do is keep winning. They can do it on the road too unlike their male counterparts. In fact, they got another road win on Thursday night after they defeated Penn State 82-69.

Ohio State had a balanced scoring effort from their starting five as four of those players scored in double figures. Jacy Sheldon led all of the Buckeyes in scoring by pouring in 20 points to go along with 6 assists and 2 rebounds. Celeste Taylor had 7 (!!!) steals and 7 assists to go along with her 16 points.

With the win, the Buckeyes improved to 23-3 overall and 14-1 in the Big Ten. Their only loss is to TTUN. They will get a chance to avenge that loss in five days when Michigan comes to town. They have just three games left in the regular season which is big for them.

It's big for them because Iowa was upset by Indiana last night. With that loss, Iowa now falls two games back of the Buckeyes with three to play. So even if the Ohio State women's basketball team were to lose to Iowa in the final game of the season, they just need to beat Maryland and TTUN to be Big Ten champs.

Ohio State would get the number-one seed in the Big Ten Tournament in that scenario. They're also in a great position to get a number-one seed in the NCAA Tournament as well. Only an undefeated South Carolina team is keeping them from being the overall number-one seed.

This team is really good and is a national championship contender. With Sheldon leading the team in points per game, assists, and field goal percentage, this is a hard team to stop. Their press makes it difficult to get an offensive rhythm.

The next game for Ohio State is on Sunday against Maryland at 2 pm on Big Ten Network.
