Ohio State football: Three candidates for offensive coordinator if Bill O'Brien leaves
By Ryan Stano
2. Kenny Guiton
Former Ohio State football player Kenny Guiton played under Urban Meyer and was the perfect backup to Braxton Miller. He actually held the school record for touchdown passes (6) in a single game against Florida A&M in 2013. Buckeye fans absolutely loved him.
Guiton has been moving around the coaching ranks since his Ohio State football career ended. He has been the wide receivers coach at multiple programs, including just being hired at Wisconsin for this season. But last season, he was the interim offensive coordinator at Arkansas.
Guiton got that job for the final four games of the year. In those final four games, Arkansas went 2-2 and scored an average of 26.75 points per game. In fact, the Razorbacks won their only SEC game of the year while Guiton was the one calling the plays.
The problem with this hire for the Buckeyes would be the fact that Guiton has limited experience calling plays. He's only called plays for four games in his career. I doubt that Day would trust his job to someone who hasn't called plays for an entire season before.
While it would be a good story, and I think Guiton is a rising star in the coaching ranks, I'm not sure this hire would make the most sense if O'Brien were to bolt. The final candidate for this position would actually be the most likely scenario if O'Brien does in fact leave.
