Ohio State football: The College Football Playoff schedule has been released
By Ryan Stano
The Ohio State football program is hoping to make the College Football Playoff for the first time since the 2020 season. They won the very first one and haven't won it since. This year, they don't really have an excuse. 12 teams get into it this year for the first time. Now that it's expanded, Ohio State should make it pretty much every year.
We now know when the games will be played and what networks will carry all of the College Football Playoff games. The first round will start on December 20th. There will be one game played that day, which is a Friday. It will be on at 8 pm ET on ABC and ESPN.
The following day, Saturday the 21st, there will be three games. The first game is on at noon on TNT, which is a change. TNT decided to let the NBA go and grab some college football instead. The second game is on at 4 pm, also on TNT. The final game is on at 8 pm on ABC and ESPN.
The quarterfinals will see one game played on New Year's Eve at 7:30 pm. That is the Fiesta Bowl. That's better than an 8 pm kickoff that could get close to the ball dropping. On New Year's Day, there will be three games. The Peach Bowl will be on at 1 pm, the Rose Bowl will be at 5 pm, and the Sugar Bowl is on at 8:45 pm. All games will be on ESPN.
One team will have a slight advantage in the national championship because the semifinal games aren't on the same day. The Orange Bowl will be on January 9th at 7:30 pm and the Cotton Bowl will be on January 10th at 7:30 pm. Both games will be on ESPN.
The National Championship Game, which the Ohio State football team is hoping to be playing in, will be on January 20th at 7:30 pm. That is the latest that the college football season has ever gone. In order to win a national title, a team will likely have to play 16 games. Someone might have to play 17.
It will be a grind, but it will be fun to watch.
