Ohio State football team's explosive offense dominates Marshall
By Ryan Stano
The Ohio State football team came out of the bye week and looked sluggish. Quite frankly, it was concerning in the first quarter for the Buckeyes. Marshall went out and marched down the field on their opening drive and took a 7-0 lead on the Ohio State Buckeyes.
After that, it was all Ohio State. While they only led 28-14 at the half, their offense's explosion really set the tone for the rest of the game. They had touchdowns of 86, 53, and 40 yards in this game. That explosive offense is the main reason why Ohio State blew out Marshall 49-14.
The defense didn't look particularly great in this game for the Buckeyes. They didn't look good on third down, nor did they really stop the run with any sort of consistency, specifically when the quarterback ran the ball. The special teams were a disaster too. It didn't matter.
Ohio State football team uses running game to kill Marshall
The running game was particularly impressive for Ohio State. Quinshon Judkins showed why the Buckeyes were so excited to land him from the transfer portal. He had an 86-yard touchdown run as part of the 173 yards he had on the day on just 14 carries. Judkins had two touchdowns on the day. His explosiveness was extremely impressive.
TreVeyon Henderson was also extremely impressive. Henderson had two touchdown runs himself and had 76 yards on just six carries. The running game was extremely effective, which we predicted. The offensive line did a great job run-blocking for the Buckeyes as well.
There are some things that this team needs to clean up. Three kickoffs out of bounds is inexcusable. The defense needs to get downhill more on the run game. There also weren't enough pressures on the quarterback from the defensive line. It was still a good win though.
