The class of 2020 didn't get what the wanted. That class of Ohio State football players didn't get a win against Michigan in four years. There are only a few of them left on the roster this season to remedy that. Quite frankly, it would be the only reason for them to stay a fifth year. Those gold pants are valuable to these guys.

One of the members of the 2020 recruiting class is Kourt Williams. Williams came in as a four-star linebacker recruit back in 2020. He was moved to safety to better fit the needs of the Buckeyes. He's played for multiple defensive coordinators but hasn't been able to make a real impact.

In his career, he has been healthy enough to play in parts of just two seasons. He has recorded 32 total tackles and one sack. The bulk of those tackles came back in 2021 when he was the heathiest. Those injuries have caught up to him now and he's stepping away from football.

Ohio State football player Kourt Williams has medically retired

Williams announced that he is medically retiring from the game of football. He got on social media and talked about how injuries have taken their toll on him and he can no longer compete. On Instagram, he mentioned the numerous surgeries he's had to endure.

In the past five years, he has had four knee surgeries and three shoulder surgeries. With that many surgeries on both his upper and lower body, it's just not possible for him to keep playing football at this point. It makes sense for him to move on.

I'm very sad for Williams. By all accounts, he's a great kid and a phenomenal teammate. Everyone on the Ohio State football team had high hopes for him on the field. He was just robbed by injuries from the ability to do so. Now he moves on to a new phase of his life.

We wish Williams the absolute best in whatever he decides to next.
