Ohio State Football: Ohio State should be the frontrunner next year for the championship
By Tyler Lyman
The Ohio State football team has only had about six players declare for the Draft, including LB Steele Chambers, WR Marvin Harrison Jr, DT Michael Hall, WR Xavier Johnson, OL Matt Jones, and RB Miyan Williams.
Here's a look at the starting lineup for the Buckeyes on offense next year: dual-threat Will Howard at quarterback, TreVeyon Henderson and the best SEC running back Quinshon Judkins at running back for the best backfield in college football, Emeka Egbuka, Carnell Tate, and Jeremiah Smith at wide receivers, and Gee Scott Jr and Will Kacmarek at tight ends.
The current odds for the National Championship for next season has Georgia at number one and Ohio State at number two. However, Ohio State only has to play Oregon, Penn State, and TTUN. Georgia meanwhile has to play Alabama, Texas, Ole Miss, and Tennessee.
Though it might be too early to say this, the game against TTUN this year should go differently than it has for the last 3 years. They've lost their quarterback, running back, wide receiver, linebacker, cornerback, and linemen on both sides of the ball to the NFL, and it looks more likely that the NFL will soon take their Head Coach Jim Harbaugh too. Meanwhile, the Ohio State football team has only had a few juniors declare.
TTUN will also have to face Texas, USC, Washington, Oregon, and Ohio State. The chance Michigan wins all of those games is not high. While their defense will still be good, the offense loses a lot of luster next year.
Ohio State is looking to finally prove people wrong again like they did in 2014 and finally get back to the level they were at 2-5 years ago. They're going to end the losing streak against TTUN and win the national championship in the first year of the new 12-team playoff.
