The Ohio State football team finished signing most of their 2024 recruiting class on Wednesday during National Signing Day. They may add another recruit or two once February rolls around, but the bulk of their class is finished. A lot of these signees are enrolling early too.

Of all of the recruits that the Buckeyes signed, which of them is the most underrated? Ohio State has plenty of five-star recruits in this class. In fact, they have the most in the country. But which of the recruits in this class should we be talking about more as they enter the Ohio State football program?

I would say that the most underrated recruit for the 2024 class is tight end Damarion Witten. He is a three-star tight end and stands at 6'4 and 215 pounds. He was actually the MVP of the Army Bowl this year. Witten is someone who could really help the depth of the tight end position.

Witten has some good size for his position and is versatile enough that he could actually play receiver if needed too. He might need to add some weight to be an effective blocker, but that shouldn't be a problem. If there's anything Mick Marotti can do to incoming recruits, it's adding weight.

The Ohio State football team doesn't use the tight ends a lot in the passing game under Ryan Day. That changed a bit last year with Cade Stover, who was actually pretty effective as a pass catcher. Witten is hoping to be able to do the same for the Buckeyes in the future.

It might take a little bit of time for Witten to see the field in order for him to really be effective. I think by the time he's a sophomore, he will be at least the number two tight end. I could see him being a really good player by the time he's a junior or senior though.

Next. Next story. Offensive line recruiting needs to be better. dark

I'm really excited to see what Witten can do in a Buckeye uniform.
