Ohio State football foe will spend a lot of money renovating their stadium

The Ohio State football team has had to renovate the Shoe several times over the years. When a stadium stands for over 100 years, that's to be expected. Ohio State handles those expenses with some of the revenue that they get from the football program.
That makes sense when Ohio State brings in either the most or the second-most revenue in the country. The whole Big Ten Conference brought in a ton of money for the 2023 year, so a lot of the conference is flush with cash and that's before the TV deal gets put fully in place.
One Ohio State football team foe is going to renovate their stadium as well. Apparently, Penn State has approved a massive renovation plan to the tune of $700 million. That's a lot of money to renovate a stadium! Most schools just use that amount of money to build a whole new stadium.
The Board of Trustees at Penn State clearly loves the atmosphere that Beaver Stadium presents. They should. It's one of the loudest environments in College Football. When there is a white-out at night in Beaver Stadium, it's really tough to win in that place.
Ohio State knows that firsthand. There's a chance that they may have to deal with that again this year, although the game time hasn't been announced for that contest yet. My guess is that we'll hear about that start time before the season starts. It won't be one of those announced during the year.
For $700 million, that stadium better be state-of-the-art. It better have WiFi that works, facilities that don't need updated anytime soon, and all of the amenities a fan could ever want. We don't know how long those renovations will take yet, but I'm sure it will take a while.
Ohio State does not have any overhauls scheduled for the Shoe, which I think is a good thing. The only thing I want them to do is put grass back on the field.
