Ohio State football: Devin Brown gets to show what he's got
By Tyler Lyman
With the upcoming bowl game against Missouri, Devin Brown should take this game as his first real chance to prove to Ryan Day that he should be the starting quarterback for the Ohio State football team. in 2024.
Between both Ryan Day and Devin Brown and their talk to the media, it seems clear that Day will be letting the first year, Lincoln Kienholz, sit this game out as he continues to grow and get better at practice. Devin Brown expressed anticipation about the Cotton Bowl. "I can't believe my first start is going to be in the Cotton Bowl. It's going to be a big stage against a really good team," Brown said speaking with the media on Tuesday. "It's a top-10 matchup and I'm just excited to go out there and show what I can do."
With three potential options at quarterback next year, this game means a lot for not just Brown's future, but the Buckeyes' future. If Brown plays well it's likely he could end up starting if OSU can't find a transfer quarterback. If he plays badly, it's possible they put in Lincoln Kienholz to see if he could do any better.
This game, at the end of the day, means a whole lot more than what it seems to Ohio State football fans. When watching the Cotton Bowl in about 2 weeks make sure to pay attention because you might just be watching your next year's starting quarterback.
Brown gets the first shot at the audition for the 2024 starting job. Let's see if he can make the most of it.
