Ohio State football: 2024 signees who will have the biggest impact as freshman

The bulk of the 2024 recruiting class for the Ohio State football team was signed on Wednesday. Which of those players will be able to make an impact the soonest?

2. Eddrick Houston

One of the most concerning spots on this Ohio State football team's roster next season is the depth on the defensive line. The line had some problems last year against TTUN stopping the run and they didn't have anyone who they could trust to play defensive end besides JTT and Jack Sawyer.

Eddrick Houston has a chance to help with those issues for the Buckeyes next year. Unfortunately, Ohio State only signed two defensive linemen with this class, so those depth issues remain. That does help Houston though in his quest for immediate playing time.

Because the Buckeyes don't have that depth up front, Houston has a chance to come in and earn snaps right away. He's athletic enough that he can play inside or outside on the line depending on the situation. He needs to help the Buckeyes with their run-stopping inside against the best teams.

Houston dominated in high school and wanted to be coached by Larry Johnson. He is one of the last prospects that Johnson will have a chance to develop into a true game-wrecker. His years are numbered as a coach because he's not a young man anymore.

I do think Houston is good enough to get snaps right away for this Ohio State football team. If J.T. Tuimoloau and Jack Sawyer both come back, it might be a little harder for him to see time. But the Bucks don't have any great defensive tackles so he has a shot to assert his dominance at that position.

The final 2024 signee who I think could make an impact immediately plays the most important position on the field.
