Ohio State basketball team won't be able to land famous transfer portal player
By Ryan Stano
The Ohio State basketball team has been very active in the transfer portal. They have been able to reshape their roster for the season ahead. It should be a team that is much better than it was a season ago with everyone that they have added. Also, Jake Diebler seems to know how to coach his guys.
There was one player that they were connected to in the transfer portal who they probably won't end up getting. That player is Bronny James. He had Ohio State in his final three schools when he was choosing a college the first time. Now, he's in the portal and in the NBA Draft at the same time.
According to multiple reports, it looks like Bronny is going to stay in the Draft. That tells me that there is at least one team that has told him and his dad that they will draft him. That will likely happen in the second round. It also means that he won't be playing for the Ohio State basketball team.
I'm not surprised that Bronny has decided to stay in the Draft. There are reports that the Lakers are interested in drafting him, no doubt after getting pressure from his dad to do so. That's really the only reason why he's entering the draft in the first place because he's not an NBA-ready player right now.
As far as Ohio State is concerned, they still have one more scholarship available. They are still looking for a guard who can come off the bench. Personally, I would prefer if they could grab another small forward who can come off the bench and help both offensively and defensively.
Even with the team they currently have, they should be much-improved. Diebler knows what this team needs. I'm not even sure Bronny was going to be a good fit for this team anyway.
