Ohio State basketball suffers another embarrassing road loss

The Ohio State basketball team still hasn't won a road game in over a year as they lost to Nebraska despite holding an early lead.

Stop if you've heard this before: the Ohio State basketball team lost on the road. It's something we've been saying for over a year now. The Buckeyes absolutely refuse to win a game on the road, which is something they kind of have to do if they want to make the NCAA Tournament.

They didn't win on Tuesday. They took on a solid Nebraska team and actually started off well. They held a nine-point lead early in the game. That didn't last long. The Buckeyes allowed Nebraska to shoot too many open threes and they lost the game 83-69.

Ohio State once again shot it poorly from three, only converting 8 of their 23 attempts from beyond the arc. In contrast, the Cornhuskers shot 14/27, which is almost 52%. The Buckeyes were constantly leaving guys wide open, no guy more so than Reink Mast.

Mast had a career-high 34 points on 13/17 shooting, including 6/8 from three. He was one of three Cornhuskers that scored in double-figures. No one wanted to guard him in the post or on the perimeter as this team's defense continues to be garbage.

Bruce Thornton had 16 and continues to be the most consistent source of offense. Roddy Gayle had just 6 and continues to struggle. There's not much more to say about this team. They stink and they can't beat anyone on the road. They won't be making the NCAA Tournament if this continues.

I know Gene Smith is headed out the door, but he has to let Chris Holtmann go. This team has no fight when any adversity strikes and not winning a road game in over a year is malpractice. There needs to be a new voice leading the program because his voice has clearly gone stale in the locker room.
