Ohio State basketball program rumored to have neutral site game vs. SEC team

The Ohio State basketball program still has one more game they might add to their schedule this year. There is a rumor it could be against an SEC team.

The Ohio State basketball team released their schedule not too long ago for the upcoming 2024-25 season. This team is trying to be better than they have in the last couple of seasons. In each of the last two years, the Buckeyes failed to make the NCAA Tournament.

Jake Diebler gets his first full season as a head coach. It's the first time that he can see how well his system works for an entire year. The Buckeyes should be able to win more games this season because of the talent they have and because of the schedule they have.

The hardest game on the Buckeyes' non-conference schedule is the Kentucky game that's part of the CBS Sports Classic. That game will be played in Madison Square Garden. There are rumors that another tough game could appear on the schedule though.

The Ohio State basketball team could end up playing another SEC foe

When the non-conference schedule was released, it was released with the caveat that one more game could be added. There are rumors that the Buckeyes are working to add a neutral site game with the Auburn Tigers, another SEC team. It would be the third matchup this year against an SEC team.

The rumors are that the game could be played in Atlanta. If that is the case, it wouldn't be much of a neutral environment. The Tigers would have a bigger fan contingent there than Ohio State would. IT would be a really hard game for the Buckeyes to win.

Nothing has been officially announced yet regarding this proposed matchup. There isn't an official timetable as to when that matchup might be announced. There's clearly some work left to do in order to get this over the finish line and have it be an official game.

If it is added, it would be a great game for the Ohio State basketball team to put on their resume if they are able to win.
