Ohio State basketball program earns commitment from Duke transfer Sean Stewart
By Jacob Rhymer
Jake Diebler has earned another commitment from the transfer portal! So far, he's brought in three transfers via the transfer portal, and now he has landed his fourth commitment after Duke transfer Sean Stewart announced he will be joining the Ohio State basketball team next season.
Just before 9:00 EST Friday morning, Travis Branham of 247Sports predicted that Sean Stewart will ultimately end up a Buckeye. Then shortly after noon, Stewart made his commitment to the Ohio State basketball team official.
Stewart is a former five-star recruit and McDonald's All-American out of Montverde Academy transferring from Duke and is looking for a bigger role. In his freshman season at Duke, the 6-foot-9 227-pound forward averaged 2.6 points and 3.2 rebounds in just 8.4 minutes per game off the bench.
Since entering the transfer portal, he has been one of Diebler’s top transfer targets to bring to Columbus. Now that Stewart is a Buckeye, this is a HUGE addition to the Ohio State basketball team.
Stewart is extremely athletic and a really strong finisher at the rim. He brings some added length on the defensive end as well which will help with rim protection as he is elite at blocking shots.
Diebler needed to bring in another big to pair with Aaron Bradshaw down low who was already brought in from Kentucky through the portal. The frontcourt Ohio State will have next season now has the potential to be one of the best in the Big Ten, and I think Buckeye fans should be excited about that.
There is still one more scholarship spot to work with, but finding another shooter to help on the perimeter will now be the focal point in Jake Diebler’s recruiting process.
