The Ohio State basketball team ended their five-game losing streak on Saturday against Maryland in a double-overtime thriller. Today, they begin their toughest week of the entire college basketball season.

After a pair of home games, the Buckeyes will hit the road to face #20 Wisconsin. This is a revenge game for the Ohio State basketball team as they lost to the Badgers on their home floor a little over a month ago. In that game, the Buckeyes had a four-point lead with six minutes to go, until Wisconsin went on a 10-0 run in four minutes to take the lead and eventually win the game.

As we already know, the Ohio State basketball team has really struggled on the road. However, they could be catching Wisconsin at the right time. The Badgers are currently in a tailspin after dropping four games in a row, including losses at Michigan and Rutgers. If the Buckeyes have any momentum coming off their huge win over Maryland, now would be the time to ride it.

Coming off their midweek trip to Madison, the Buckeyes return home to face the favorites in the Big Ten, the Purdue Boilermakers. Purdue is the second-ranked team in the country according to the AP Poll, and the best team in the Big Ten. They’re also playing for the #1 overall seed in the upcoming NCAA Tournament. So, a loss to Ohio State at this point of the season could really hurt their chances of earning that.

Purdue also has the reigning National Player of the Year, and the current favorite to win the award again, Zach Edey. In three games against Ohio State last season, Edey dominated with averages of 24.7 points per game on a 51.7% shooting split from the field, and he pulled down an average of 12 rebounds in each of those three games. He’ll be a difficult match-up, and will most likely see a variety of different Ohio State defenders.

If the Ohio State basketball team wants anything positive to come from this season, it happens during this week. College basketball is all about drama, and the Buckeyes have an opportunity to create all sorts of chaos this week.
